Nothing. The Universe. Blue sky. Calmness. Space. Sleepy Clouds. Sunshine. Zen.
When I received my new Ibanez guitar at the end of 2016, I immediately started to play it. I tried out various analog guitar effects and at some point it occurred to me that I should actually record my "first baby steps" with this new instrument and its effects (accompanied with a fretless bass). So I got myself an analog recording device and just started playing/recording. After nearly 50 track attempts, I selected the ones I really liked. And this is how "Beyond the Storm" came to life. Sounds simple? Not so fast, continue reading ...
There was actually a concept behind this album: I envisioned a "Americana-inspired" music album with iconic sounds similar to Neil Young or Bill Frisell. But somehow during the recording sessions, I was also inspired by cinematic experiences (e.g. "La La Dreams" was inspired by "La La Lands" and "Streets of Chungking" was inspired by "Chungking Express"). Furthermore, there are two tunes in homage to the city "Berlin" and to legendary jazz guitarist Jim Hall ("Mr. Hall"). If you think that's a strange mix, go ahead and listen to some tracks.
Listen to "The Descent". This is one of the up-tempo tunes on this record.
It's 10 Euros (excl. shipping costs). Just send me an email: email[at]katunluc.com
